Analysis of the influence of Emotional therapy combined with psychological care on the stigma of Chil-dren and adolescents with depression
Objective This study examined the effects of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy(REBT)on feel-ings of shame in children and adolescents with depression. Methods The study subjects were 88 cases of adolescent depression patients who attended the Third People's Hospital of Fuyang City from January 2022 to December 2022.Through the random number table method, the patients were divided into two groups of 44 cases each:the control group received conventional nursing interventions, and the observation group,in addition to the conventional nursing care of the control group, underwent rational-emotional therapy and individualized psychological care including emotion cognition, cognitive restructuring,self-acceptance,and emotion regulation. The Depression Stigma Scale(DSS),Self-rating Depressive Scale(SDS),and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ)were used before and after the treatment to assess stigma, depressive symptoms, and coping styles. Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of patients in terms of age, gender, hospitalization days, and duration of illness(P>0.05).The differences in the results of DSS,SDS,and SCSQ at the time of admission were not statistically sig-nificant between the two groups(P>0.05).All the scores of the two groups improved significantly after treatment, and the patients in the observation group had a lower personal sense of shame and depressive symptoms than those in the control group, and the proportion of patients adopting positive coping styles in the observation group was more than that in the control group, and the differences were all statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions This study shows that rational emotive therapy combined with personalized psychological care can be more effective in reducing stigma, improving depressive symptoms, and increasing positive coping strategies in depressed children and adolescents, which is clinically significant in improving the overall mental health of this population.
