Association between CYP2C19 gene polymorphisms and refractory schizophrenia
Objective To investigate the relationship between 2C19(CYP2C19)gene polymorphism in cyto-chrome P450 family members and refractory schizophrenia. Methods 108 patients with refractory schizophrenia and 90 patients with non-refractory schizophrenia were selected and recorded respectively in the refractory group and non-refractory group. The polymorphism of CYP2C19 gene was detected and classified into broad metabolizer(EM),inter-mediate metabolizer(IM)and slow metabolizer(PM).Clinical data and polymorphism of CYP2C19 gene were com-pared between refractory group and refractory group.Logistic regression analysis of the related factors affecting refractory schizophrenia. Results The course of disease,Concise Psychiatric Scale(BPRS)score,Positive and Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS)score,Clinical Gross Impression Scale Severity Scale(CGI-S)score and Prolactin(PRL)level in refractory group were higher than those in refractory group(P<0.05).The proportion of EM in CYP2C19 gene was lower than that in non-refractory group(P<0.05),while the proportion of IM and PM was higher than that in non-refractory group(P<0.05).Multifactor analysis showed that CGI-S score,PRL and CYP2C19 gene IM/PM were all risk factors for refractory schizophrenia(P<0.05).Conclusion CYP2C19 gene polymorphism is associated with re-fractory schizophrenia, and the risk of refractory schizophrenia is higher in IM and PM types.
