Influence of social factors on depression in dialysis patients with end-stage renal disease
Objective To explore the influence of social factors on depression in dialysis patients with End-stage renal disease(ESRD).Methods Eighty ESRD dialysis patients from January 2019 to September 2023 were selected for depressed mood assessment. To compare the social support, social isolation, social avoidance and other sociologi-cal factors of depressed patients with those without depression. To analyze the correlation between depressed mood and social isolation and social avoidance. Results 29 ESRD dialysis patients had depression among 80 cases. There were significant differences in educational level and family income between the two groups(P<0.05).The differences in marriage, and place of residence were not significant(P>0.05).The total score of social isolation and social support in depressed patients was significantly lower than that in non-depressed patients, and the social avoidance score was sig-nificantly higher than that in non-depressed patients(P<0.05).Family income, social support, social isolation and social avoidance were the influencing factors of depression in dialysis patients with end-stage renal disease(P<0.05).Conclusion ESRD dialysis patients have a high rate of depression, and social isolation and social avoidance are sig-nificantly associated with depression, which should be promoted to actively integrate patients into society.
