The levels and significance of IL-17 and COR in asthmatic children with depression
Objective To investigate the significance of interleukin-17(IL-17)and cortisol(COR)levels in asthmatic children with depression. Methods The medical records of 87 children with asthma from January 2020 to Feb-ruary 2022 were analyzed retrospectively.According to whether they had depression, they were divided into depression group(n=41)and non-depression group(n=46).Serum IL-17 and COR levels were compared between the two groups.According to the different scores of depression scale, the children with asthma and depression were divided into mild de-pression group(n=22),moderate depression group(n=9)and severe depression group(n=10).The levels of IL-17 and COR in serum of the three groups were compared.Receiver operating curve(ROC)was used to analyze the diagnostic value of IL-17 and COR in asthma with depression. Results Among 87 children with asthma,41 had depression and 46 had no depression. The incidence of asthma with depression was 47.13%.The serum levels of IL-17 and COR in depres-sion group were higher than those in non-depression group(P<0.05).The levels of IL-17 and COR in mild depression group were lower than those in moderate depression group(P<0.05)and severe depression group(P<0.05).The levels of IL-17 and COR in moderate depression group were lower than those in severe depression group(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of the combination of IL-17 and COR was 0.922,which was higher than that of L-17 and COR alone(0.871,0.812).Conclusion The serum levels of IL-17 and COR in children with asthma complicated with depression are higher than those in children with asthma alone, and the levels of IL-17 and COR increase gradually with the progress of the disease. Both of them have certain value in the diagnosis of asthma complicated with depression, and the combined detection can improve the diagnostic efficiency.
