Depression status in elderly Parkinson's disease patients and its correlation with cognitive function
Objective To explore the current status of depression in elderly Parkinson's disease patients and its correlation with cognitive function. Methods 80 elderly Parkinson's disease patients admitted to our hospital from March 2021 to March 2024 were selected as the study subjects. The depression status and cognitive function of patients were evaluated using the Self Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and the Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE),re-spectively.The depression status of patients with different baseline data was observed, and multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to identify the relevant influencing factors of depression and their correlation with cognitive function. Results The SDS of 80 patients was(61.25±13.26)points.There was no statistically significant difference in SDS between different genders and ages(P>0.05).The SDS comparison of different disease courses, education levels, monthly income, and MMSE showed statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted with SDS as the dependent variable and disease course, education level, monthly income, and MMSE as independent variables. The results showed that SDS was positively correlated with disease course, while SDS was negatively correlated with education level, monthly income, and MMSE,with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion Elderly Parkinson's disease patients are often accompanied by depressive emotions, which are positively correlated with the course of the disease and negatively correlated with education level, monthly income, and MMSE score. That is,the longer the course of the disease, the more severe the depression situation of the patient. The higher the education level, monthly income, and MMSE score, the milder the depression level of the patient.
