Effects of Ketamine on Postoperative Recovery,Anxiety,Depression, and Cognitive Function in Eld-erly Patients with Hip Fractures
Objective To explore the effects of ketamine on postoperative recovery, anxiety, depression, and cognitive function in elderly patients with hip fractures. Methods A total of 120 elderly patients with hip fractures from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects, all of whom underwent surgical treatment. The computer randomization method was randomly divided into two groups at a 1:1 ratio. The control group was anesthetized using conventional methods, while the observation group was anesthetized with ketamine in addition to conventional methods. The Ramsay sedation scores at 2,4,and 12 hours after surgery between two groups of patients were com-pared.The preoperative, postoperative 1-day,and 3-day Self Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self Rating Depression Scale(SDS),and Mini Mental State Scale(MMSE)were compared. Results The Ramsay scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group at 2 and 4 hours after surgery(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference at 12 hours after surgery(P>0.05).The SAS and SDS scores of the two groups were significantly lower than before surgery on the 1st and 3rd day after surgery, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group on the 1st and 3rd day after surgery(P<0.05).The MMSE scores on the 1st and 3rd day after surgery in both groups were significantly lower than those before surgery, and the observation group was signifi-cantly higher than the control group on the 1st and 3rd day after surgery(P<0.05).Conclusion Esketamine can im-prove the recovery quality of elderly hip fracture surgery, alleviate anxiety and depression, and improve postoperative cognitive function.
