The influence of anxiety and depression on intraocular pressure and psychological stress in patients with primary glaucoma after trabeculectomy
Objective To investigate the effects of anxiety and depression on intraocular pressure and psycho-logical stress in patients with primary glaucoma after trabeculectomy. Methods A total of 76 patients with primary glaucoma admitted to our hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the study objects, all of whom under-went trabeculectomy. After the operation, the patients were divided into negative emotion group(33 cases with anxiety and depression)and control group(43 cases without anxiety and depression). The general data of the two groups were compared, including gender, age, education background. Before operation,1 day after operation,1 w after opera-tion and 1 month after operation, the intraocular pressure of the two groups was detected and compared. The psycholog-ical stress indexes[norepinephrine(NE),cortisol(Cor),adrenocorticotrophic hormone(ACTH)]of the two groups were detected and compared before and 3 days after operation. The postoperative complications of the two groups were recorded. Results There was no significant difference in gender, age and education between the two groups(P>0.05).At 1 d and 1 w after surgery, the intraocular pressure level of the negative emotion group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups one month after surgery(P>0.05).At 3 days after operation, the levels of NE,Cor and ACTH in the negative emotion group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the negative emotion group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of anxiety and depression can lead to slower recovery of intraocular pressure, higher psychological stress level and higher incidence of postoperative complications in patients with primary glaucoma after trabeculectomy.
