The influence of anxiety and depression on symptoms of patients with prostate hyperplasia
Objective To explore the impact of anxiety and depression on symptoms related to prostate hyper-plasia.Methods Eighty-four patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia in our hospital from March 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the study subjects. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMA and HAMD)were used to assess anxiety and depression emotions. They were set as the anxiety depression group and non anxiety de-pression group based on whether anxiety or(and)depression. The International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS)and Overactive Bladder Syndrome Score(OABSS)between two groups of patients were compared. The urodynamic indica-tors such as maximum flow rate(Qmax)and residual urine volume of bladder(RUV)in two groups of patients were detected. Results 84 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia complicated with anxiety and depression in 30 cases, including 10 cases of anxiety,6 cases of depression, and 14 cases of anxiety combined with depression; The IPSS score and OABSS score of the anxiety and depression group were significantly higher than those of the non anxiety and depression group(P<0.05).The Qmax of the anxiety and depression group was significantly lower than that of the non anxiety and depression group, and the RUV was significantly higher than that of the non anxiety and depression group(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia are prone to anxiety and depression, which may exacerbate lower urinary tract symptoms and urodynamic disorders.
