Effects of sertraline combined with EEG biofeedback on negative emotions, monoamine neurotransmit-ter levels and sleep quality in elderly patients with depression and insomnia
Objective To analyze the effects of sertraline combined with EEG biofeedback on negative emo-tion,monoamine neurotransmitter level and sleep quality in elderly patients with depression and insomnia. Methods Eighty-four elderly patients with depression combined with insomnia from May 2021 to February 2023 in our hospital were selected as the study objects, and grouped by random number table method.Sertraline was given to 42 patients in the control group, and EEG biofeedback was added to 42 patients in the experimental group. After 3 months, negative emotions, monoamine neurotransmitter levels and sleep quality were compared between the two groups. Results The scores of self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale in experimental group were lower than those in con-trol group(P<0.05).The levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine,norepinephrine and dopamine in experimental group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).The scores of insomnia severity index and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Sertraline combined with EEG biofeedback can effectively reduce negative emotions, improve sleep quality, and improve the level of monoamine neurotransmitter in elderly pa-tients with depression and insomnia, with high safety.
