Nest-PCR identification of one human infected of Babesia microti in Guangxi and investigation on his colleagues
Objective To identify one domestic human case infected with Babesia microti and investigate surrounding colleagues so as to understand B.microti distribution among local people in Guangxi Province. Methods A total of 121 blood DNA samples of the patient and his surrounding colleagues was extracted and identified by nested-PCR methods. Then, using patient's amplified 18S rRNA as molecular markers, the homology with all Babesia sequences in GenBank was analyzed, and using maximum likelihood method the phylogenetic tree was constructed for analysis of genetic relationship. Results The patient infected B.microti disease and so were 40 surrounding colleagues, the positive rate was 33.06%(40/121).The systemic classification of B.microti belongs to the strain of human infection groups and it is distant related to the species of cattle,or dog infection Babesia groups. Conclusion B.microti is of high infection rate among patient's surrounding people and it has potential infection risk for contact persons, prevention and control strategy should be strengthened.
