Analysis of epidemic characteristics of 336 imported malaria cases in Beijing
Objective To understand the prevalence and epidemic features of imported malaria in Xuanwu District of Beijing so as to provide reference for elimination of malaria.Methods The data of imported malaria cases in Xuanwu District of Beijing reported through China Information System for Disease Prevention and Control from 2005 to 2014 were descriptively analyzed.Results A total of 336 imported malaria cases were reported in Xuanwu District of Beijing from 2005 to 2014,of which 165 imported cases were local residents of the city,accounted for 49.11%,and the other 171 cases were migrant population coming to Beijing for medical treatment,accounting for 50.89%.Imported cases from Afirca accounted for 92.26%.The imported local cases were mainly distributed in Chaoyang and Haidian districts.The migrant cases were mainly from Hebei.There were cases reported each month in the year,and 54.17% of which were reported from July to November.94.34% of the cases were from 20-59 years old,the sex ratio of male/female was 10.2,and office staff,workers and farmers were the mainly affected population.92.56% of the cases were confirmed by laboratory,65.18% of reported malaria cases were falciparum malaria.The cases which were diagnosed as malaria within 10 d accounted for 75.30%.Conclusion A total of 336 imported malaria cases reported during 2005-2014 were mainly falciparum malaria,coming from Africa.The imported cases monitoring,laboratory diagnosis,health education and physician training should be strengthened.
