Type 1 diabetes (T1DM) is a multifactorial immune mediated disease closely related to autoimmunity, and its pathogenesis is not completely clear. In recent years, it has been found that the activation of T cells and their subsets is closely related to the occurrence of T1DM, and CD137-CD137L signaling pathway is an important co modulator of T cell activation. The interaction of CD137-CD137L costimulatory pathway and its influence on the occurrence, development and immunotherapy in T1DM were reviewed.
