Research advances in the application of leukocyte depletion filter in autologous blood transfusion of patients undergoing sur-gery for malignant tumors
Patients with malignant tumors often need a large amount of blood transfusion during surgery.Previous studies sug-gested that intraoperative cell salvage(IOCS)may re-transfuse malignant tumor cells into the body to cause tumor spread and recur-rence.However,most current studies have shown that a leukocyte depletion filter(LDF)can remove tumor cells in cell-salvaged blood, which increases the safety and feasibility of IOCS for surgery in patients with malignant tumors. This review summarizes the principle and possible mechanism of LDF in removing tumor cells, and the research advances in using LDF in malignant tumors autologous blood transfusion to provide a clinical reference.
