Specialized treatment in the anesthesia intensive care unit
The anesthesia intensive care unit(AICU)primarily admits high-risk patients with multiple preoperative comorbidities and those experiencing severe intraoperative adverse events.Anesthesiologists utilize specialized diagnostic and treatment techniques in the AICU,such as bedside point-of-care ultrasound and nerve block procedures,to reduce the risk of postoperative complications and ensure continuous care while improving patient outcomes.This article reviews the specialized diagnostic and therapeutic techniques of the AICU,including the application of bedside ultrasound,individualized sedation with the minimum effective dose,multimodal analgesia,airway management,volume management,and monitoring strategies,highlighting the AICU's specialized approach and management advantages.
