The Willingness of Order-oriented Medical Students to Fulfill the Contract and Its Influencing Factors in China
The rural-oriented tuition-waived medical education program(abbreviated as the order-oriented pro-gram)is a major national project to strengthen the training of rural primary healthcare professionals. The insufficient total number and low quality of primary healthcare professionals in China are quite severe, and the implementation of the order-orientated program is important. The improvement of the willingness of rural-oriented tuition-waived medi-cal students(abbreviated as oriented medical students)to fulfill the contract is critical to ensure the long-term sus-tainability of the order-oriented program. This study presented a review on the study of the current situation and in-fluencing factors of the willingness of oriented medical students to fulfill the contract in China. The results of the re-view suggested that a large number of studies have been conducted in China on the willingness of oriented medical students to fulfill the contract. There were significant differences in different regions, and the results of different studies conducted in the same region also varied greatly. In addition,Chinese scholars have mainly explored the influencing factors of the willingness to fulfill the contract among oriented medical students from two aspects:socio-demographic factors and cognitive factors.Subsequently,a nationwide uniform survey should be conducted, the corre-lation between the willingness to fulfill the contract and institutional training models and policy factors should be en-hanced,and more research on incentive strategies for the willingness to fulfill the contract should be conducted,to achieve the goal of improving the willingness of oriented medical students to fulfill the contract.
