Current Status of Antimicrobial Use Management in Medical Institution in Two Study Sites in Jiangsu and Zhejiang
Objective To understand the management policy and implementation status of antibiotics in the case areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang province, explore the advances and deficiencies of implementation of these management policies. Methods We employed In-depth interviews with relevant personnel in the case areas, and the analysis was conducted via thematic framework. Results The health administrative departments in the case area attached great importance to the management of antibiotics use.The public hospitals in the two regions have relatively sound anti-microbial drug management systems, more strict management, more standardized drug procurement processes,regu-lar staff training, and continuous improvement of in-hospital antimicrobial drug management facilities. However, there are still some deficiencies in the management of antibiotics use in private medical institutions and primary medi-cal institutions. At the same time, institutions generally lack professional pharmacists and efficient information sys-tems.Conclusion The implementation of these management policies generally have good outcome, but there is still space for improvement. It is suggested that the health administrative departments should build a"full-process,all-round"management system, pay more attention to private and primary medical institutions, strengthen guidance and supervision;focus on training professional clinical pharmacists;strengthen the information systems.
