The Correlation between Social Capital and the Quality of Life of the Elderly
Objective To understand the influence of social capital on quality of life of the aging population in Chengdu.Methods Multi-stage stratified sampling method was used to select 1 852 elderly people aged 60 and above from September to November 2020,and a questionnaire survey was conducted on their social capital and life quality status.SPSS 21.0 software was used for descriptive statistical analysis,factor analysis,and multiple linear regression analysis.Results After factor analysis,9 factors were obtained by dimensionality reduction of their social capital.Multiple linear regressive model showed that there was a positive correlation between 5 factors including A1-interpersonal communication factor,B1-family function factor,C1-community attachment factor,etc.and Physical Component Summary(PCS)of the aging population.A1-interpersonal communication factor,A2-interpersonal sup-port factor,B2-family support factor,C1-community attachment factor had a positive correlation with Mental Compo-nent Summary(MCS)of the aging population.Conclusion Most of the social capital factors,whether at the indivi-dual,family,or community level,have a certain positive impact on the quality of life among the aging population.
