Correlation of Needs,Social Support and Anxiety in Parents of Children with Henoch-schonlein Purpura Nephritis
Objective To investigate the correlation of needs,social support and anxiety in parents of children with henoch-schonlein purpura nephritis(HSPN).Methods Parents of 524 children with HSPN admitted to Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from August 2020 to August 2023 were selected as the research subjects by convenience sampling.Questionnaire surveys were conducted using the general information questionnaire,the modi-fied Chinese version of the Critical Care Family Needs Inventory(information acquisition,condition assurance,the need of getting close to patients,family members'comfort,and support from medical staff),the Social Support Rating Scale and the Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS).Pearson method was used to analyze the correlation of parents'needs,social support,and anxiety.Multivariable linear regression analysis was conducted to identify the influencing factors of anxiety among parents of children with HSPN.Results There were statistically significant differences in SAS scores in terms of children's age,course of disease,per capita monthly income in the family and parents'educational level(P＜0.05).Pearson correlation analysis found that the SAS scores of parents of children with HSPN were positively correlated with their needs(P＜0.05),and negatively correlated with social support(P＜0.05).Multivariable linear regression analysis found that children's age,course of illness,per capita monthly income in the family,parents'educational level,needs and social support were influencing factors of anxiety in parents of children with HSPN(P＜0.05).Conclusion There is a significant correlation between needs,social support and anxiety in parents of children with HSPN.Parents'needs and social support they receive affect their anxiety level.Medical staff should evaluate the needs of parents of children with HSPN based on their specific circumstances,take effective in-tervention measures and provide emotional support to alleviate parents'anxiety.
