Analysis of the Relationship between Respondents'Characteristics and the Quality of Web-based Questionnaires under Different Quality Control Methods and the Influencing Factors:An Online Surey of Community Residents'Knowledge of COVID-19
Objective Collecting data through web-based questionnaires is becoming more and more common. In order to evaluate the quality of web-based questionnaire responses, this study aims to analyze the effects of two quali-ty control methods, and to explore the influence of subjects'characteristics on the quality of web-based question-naires,so as to provide a scientific basis for the subsequent development of quality control standards for web-based questionnaires and the improvement of the quality of web-based questionnaires. Methods The quality of the web-based questionnaire is measured by the answering time(if the answer time was too short,it was unqualified)and the quality control questions(if the specified option was not selected,it was unqualified).By using the results from the investigation on 5,135 community residents about their knowledge of the COVID-19,the influencing of subjects'characteristics in the questionnaires on the quality of web-based questionnaires was analyzed. Results The qualified rate of the questionnaire was 67.6%and 96.1%with quality control questions and response time,respectively.Com-bining both standard, the qualified rate was 65.0%.The results of the multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that, when the quality control question was used as the criterion, the quality of the questionnaire was higher for female(OR=1.26,95%CI=1.11-1.44),high educational level(undergraduate or above,OR=1.46,95%CI=1.15-1.85).When taking the answering time as the standard, people with higher the education level(undergraduate education level and above,OR=0.12,95%CI=0.02-0.39),students(OR=0.43,95%CI=0.28-0.64)had lower quality questionnaires, while the questionnaire of older people(over 50 years old,OR=19.33,95%CI=5.09-93.41)had higher quality. Conclusion The different passing rates and influencing factors of the questionnaires with two quality-control methods(response time and quality-control questions)indicate that the quality-control effect of using only one quality-control method may not be enough, and consideration should be given to combining multiple quality-control methods and setting reasonable quality-control standards.
