Evaluation and Allocation of Beds in the National Neurological Medical Center
Objective To evaluate the bed utilization of a member hospital of the National Neurological Medicine Center,to calculate the appropriate number of beds for each department, and to provide reference for the construction of national regional medical centers. Methods Two quantitative methods, the bed efficiency model and the Boston matrix, were used to evaluate the bed utilization efficiency and benefits of each department of a member hospital of the National Neurological Medical Center from 2019 to 2022.The qualitative rating of bed utilization was conducted based on the evaluation results, and the bed utilization model was used to calculate the appropriate number of beds in each department. Results The department with the highest bed utilization efficiency was related to neurological diseases, with approximately 70%of suitable beds in the department,30%in other comprehensive departments, and 20%in regional departments. Conclusion The utilization of beds in the neurology related departments of the Na-tional Neurology Medical Center is good, and the national regional medical center should focus on setting up neuro-logy related disciplines and leverage the linkage effect of other comprehensive disciplines, while also taking into account the basic medical needs of patients in the region.
