Mediating Effect of Professional Identity between Empowering Leadership and Research Ability among Nurses
Objective To investigate the current situation of empowering leadership,professional identity and scientific research ability of clinical nurses,and further analyze the mediating effect of professional identity between empowering leadership and scientific research ability,so as to provide a basis for improving clinical nurses'scientific research ability.Methods Convenience sampling method was adopted to select 682 clinical nurses from 5 general hospitals in Jiangsu Province from January to July 2021 as research objects.General data questionnaire,empower-ment leadership scale,professional identity scale for nurses and self-evaluation scale for nursing staff's scientific re-search ability were used for investigation.SPSS 22.0 was used for Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear re-gression analysis,and Model 4 in the SPSS macro PROCESS was selected for mediating effect analysis.Results Among those 682 nurses,the total score of empowering leadership score was(38.96±9.94),the professional identi-ty score was(98.60±17.48),and the scientific research ability score was(63.17±27.23).Pearson correlation anal-ysis showed that the empowering leadership was positively correlated with professional identity and scientific re-search ability(r=0.303,P<0.001;r=0.222,P<0.001),and professional identity was positively correlated with scientific research ability(r=0.520,P<0.001).The results of mediating effect verification showed that the indirect effect value of empowering leadership on scientific research ability was 0.311,accounting for 42.8%of the total effect.Conclusion Professional identity of clinical nurses plays a mediating role in the relationship between empowe-ring leadership and scientific research ability.Nursing managers can promote professional identity of nurses by strengthening authorization,so as to improve nurses'scientific research ability.
