Epigenetic modification is a process that regulates the activity of the genome, but does not affect the DNA genetic coding. The most common mechanism of epigenetic modification are DNA methylation, histone aeetylarion and their interaction, of which DNA methyltransferases play the key roles in the epigenetic modification. The epigenetic modification of the genome is necessary for the establishment of gene imprinting. It has an important effect on the functions of the genome. Evidences shows that assisted reproductive techniques (ART) might be associated with genetic imprinting, therefore the investigation of the mechanisms about influences of ART affecting genetic imprinting will be helpful for the improvement of ART and the prevention of the certain ART associated complications.
