The relationship between exercise and intraocular pressure, ocular blood flow perfusion, and optic nerve protection
Exercise therapy,as an auxiliary treatment for glaucoma, recently has attracted broad at-tention.Previous clinical studies have confirmed that exercise can reduce intraocular pressure and improve ocular perfusion in healthy people and glaucoma patients. In addition, animal experiments have shown that exercise also has a certain protective effect on the optic nerve. This article reviewed the research on the rela-tionship between exercise and intraocular pressure, ocular perfusion, and neuroprotection,as well as the re-lated mechanisms,to further promote the application of exercise therapy in clinical practice.(Int Rev Oph-thalmol,2024,48:8-14)
