An epidemiological investigation and risk factorsanalysis of COPD in a Wuwei population
Objective To investigate the prevalence and related risk factors of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)and provide guidance for the prevention and treatment of COPD in Wuwei.Methods We randomly selected participants who older than 40 years in Wuwei and detected their pulmonary function.The demographic data were collected using a standardized epidemiological questionnaire and analyzed.Results We validated 1 424 participants with available data.There were 732 males and 692 females with mean age of(60.32±18.05)years.A total of 190 COPD patients were detected,the overall prevalence of COPD was 13.34％.Male and female prevalence rates were 13.93％and 12.72％,respectively.The prevalence of COPD increased with age(P<0.05).Age,smoking status,family history of respiratory disease and dust exposure history were associated with the risk of COPD(P<0.05).Conclusion The total prevalence of COPD in Wuwei is high.We should enhance the prevention and treatment of COPD in Wuwei.
