Effects of antenatal care on maternal complications andpregnancy outcomes in elderly women
Objective To explore the effects of antenatal care on the maternal complications and pregnancy outcomes in elderly women. Methods A total of 200 cases were randomly selected among 2 000 elderly pregnant women treated during Oct.2014 and Oct.2016.The patients were divided into observation group (n=100) and control group (n=100).The observation group received antenatal care, including regular examinations and health education. The control group received routine guidance. The complications and pregnancy outcomes of the two groups were compared. Results The incidence of pregnancy-induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, premature rupture of membranes, postpartum hemorrhage of the observation group and control group were 3% vs 13%, 2% vs 14%, 4% vs 13%, and 4% vs 24%, with significant differences (P<0.05).The incidence of neonatal asphyxia, fetal macrosomia, hypoglycemia, polycythemia of the observation group and control group were 3% vs 20%, 4% vs 18%, 3% vs 12%, and 2% vs 10%, with significant differences (P<0.05).The rates of difficult labor, cesarean section, and still birth of the observation group and control group were 1% vs 9%, 28% vs 63%, and 0% vs 7%, with significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion Antenatal care can significantly reduce the complications and adverse pregnancy outcomes. It is worth of wide clinical promotion.
