The clinical efficacy of preformed crown vs resin restoration in the treatment of caries of deciduous teeth
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of preformed crown and resin restoration in the treatment of primary caries of deciduous teeth. Methods A total of 78 children with caries of deciduous teeth treated during July 2013 and Dec.2015 were enrolled. All patients were confirmed before admission. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups: observation group (n=39) and control group (n=39).The observation group was repaired with preformed crown, while the control group was repaired with composite resin. All procedures were completed by the same doctor. The overall treatment success rate was analyzed. Results The total effective rate 3 and 6 months after treatment was 97.43% and 94.87% in the observation group, higher than those in the control group (89.74% and 84.61%, P<0.05).For the preservation of primary function, the success rate was much higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of deciduous molar caries, preformed crown is more effective than resin restoration.
