Informatization and Firm Export Behavior:An Empirical Study Based on the Quasi-natural Experiment of"Pilot Zones of Integration of Informatization and Industrialization"
As a powerful engine to promote the transformation of economic development mode, cultivate emerging industries and new economic growth points, informatization is closely related to firms'export behavior. However,it is unclear whether the informatization led by the government in the form of industrial policy still has trade promotion effect.Using the"pilot zones of integration of informatization and industrialization policy"as a quasi-natural experiment,a DID model is constructed to examine the impact of pilot zones of integration of informatization and industrialization on firms'export behavior based on the database of industrial firms in China from 2004 to 2013.The results are as follows:First, although the pilot zones of integration of informatization and industrialization promotes the improvement of urban informatization level,it has a significant inhibitory effect on the export possibilities and scale of Chinese firms;second, the further mechanism test shows that the two channels of"inhibiting TFP improvement"and"promoting market integration"mainly affect firms'export behavior;finally, based on the heterogeneity analysis,it is found that the pilot zones of integration of informatization and industrialization has a greater inhibitory effect on non-state-owned enterprises, large and medium-sized enterprises and growing and mature enterprises. The conclusion of this paper is helpful to deepen the understanding of the economic effect of pilot zones of integration of informatization&industrialization and firms'export behavior, and provides important policy enlightenment for the government to further promote the implementation of the strategy of integration of informatization and industrialization.
