With the frequent occurrence of extreme weather events due to climate change, the problem of transmission line icing is becoming increasingly serious, posing a significant threat to the secure operation of power grid. Therefore,it is very important to establish and improve the standard system of icing monitoring technology to improve the disaster resistance and intelligent management level of power grid. The progress of technical standards and specifications for icing monitoring of overhead transmission line is discussed in this paper.Firstly, the technology is described in detail. Then, the development status of relevant norms and standards is sorted out, including the historical evolution, international standards and guidelines,as well as the specific situation of domestic national standards, power industry and enterprise standards, emphasizing the complementarity and synergy of standards at all levels in practical application, and elaborating the logical relationship between them, providing a clear guiding framework for standard users. Finally, improvement suggestions in view of the shortcomings of the existing standard system is proposed, and the future development trend is looked forward, aiming to provide a useful reference for the technological progress and standard improvement in this field.
