THE IMPACT OF DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE ON CHINA'S BORDER SECURITY AND THE GOVERNANCE PATH
People are the root for border guarding and stability as well as for border prosperity and construc-tion,and the change of demographic structure is related to the development pattern of border regions.The border governance centering people is the key to maintaining border security.Since the Reform and Opening up,the demo-graphic structure in border regions has indicated such changing characteristics as the decrease of population growth rate,the intensification of population aging,the increase of mobile population proportion,the solidification of ethnic structure,the increase but uneven distribution of population urbanization rate,the improvement but relatively low level of population quality,which have produced certain impacts on border political security,economic security,social security,cultural security and ecological security.Therefore,it is necessary to start from five aspects as aggre-gating people to the border,enriching people to prosper the border,benefiting people to stabilize the border,nouris-hing the border with culture,and consolidating the border ecologically,to actively respond to the challenges of demographic changes on border security and to promote the sustainable stability and prosperous development of bor-der regions.
