HOW THE GOVERNMENT STRENTHENED RULE IN THE MOUNTAINOUS REGIONS:THE INTERACTION BETWEEN GUIZHOU'S MOUNTAIN SOCIETY AND DYNASTIES DURING THE MING AND QING DYNASTIES
Guizhou has historically been a mountainous region, where the government was once unable to rule. The construction of the road from Hunan and Hubei to Yunnan during the Ming Dynasty demonstrated that the cen-tral government began to speed up the development of Guizhou.During the Qing Dynasty, with the bureaucratization of native officers in minority regions and opening-up of the Miao Territory,Confucianism and a large number of immigrants penetrated into Guizhou, gradually leading to the integration of Guizhou's mountain society with other parts under the rule of the central government.Research has found that central governments of Ming and Qing Dynasties and Guizhou's mountain society complement each other in a mutually beneficial relationship. As a symbol of diversity, mountain society reflected the struggle between individuality and national integration, demonstrating the logic of the Chinese nation's"unity"deriving from"diversity",and"diversity"promoting"unity",which is also one of the intrinsic motivations behind the duration of Chinese national community for thousands of years.
