CULTURAL REPRESENTATION AND POLITICAL ESSENCE:The Value Construction of Narrative in Temple Fairs in Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation
Chinese culture is a holistic and integrated spiritual system.Through the ages,all the governments have carried out emotional communication and discourse connection with civil society in the way of folk narrative,forming a cultural power network of interaction between large and small traditional rites and customs.As a"transi-tion zone"of officials and people,the temple fair communicates and connects the national mainstream society.Based on the belief of"three kings and five emperors",worship of ancestral temples and religious enlightenment of Bud-dhism and Taoism,it promotes the exchange and interaction between the national superstructure and civil society.The government has established a national standardized worship system by supporting and transforming this cultural tradition from top to bottom through the umbrella structure;the folk reconstruct their beliefs with the power of hon-eycomb structure,promoting the nationalization of folk beliefs from bottom to top.Under the integration of culture and politics,narrative of temple fairs has shaped the social group identity,condensed the patriotic emotion,recon-structed the collective consciousness,and played an important role in constructing the value system of the Chinese national community.
