As a typical demonstration of the diversity of human civilization,Chinese civilization constitutes a comprehensive civilization system,covering material civilization,spiritual civilization and institutional civilization.This civilization system can achieve sustained self-renewal and development,mainly because of its five outstanding characteristics.Firstly,its outstanding continuity has laid a profound historical foundation for Chinese civilization;secondly,its unique innovation has endowed the Chinese civilization with endless growth momentum;thirdly,its excellent unity has manifested the pluralistic and integrated cultural characteristics of Chinese civilization;fourthly,its prominent inclusiveness has broadened the content and development vision of Chinese civilization;fifthly,its love of peace has highlighted the cultural communication attitude of the main body of Chinese civilization.These charac-teristics not only interweave with each other,but also act synergistically at the system level to promote the develop-ment of Chinese civilization as an organic unity of cultural life.In the process of building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation,we should further adhere to and carry forward these five characteristics.
