THE DECONSTRUCTION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF CULTURAL SYMBOLS OF ZHUZHU FESTIVAL IN NORTHWESTERN GUANGXI:An Analytical Framework Based on the Presence of the Sate
The Zhuzhu Festival is a traditional ethnic festival prevalent in the Bunu Yao(a branch of Yao ethnic group)inhabited areas of Guangxi.It is a cultural complex which integrates ethnic memory,religious beliefs,music and dance,and ethnic cuisine,reflecting the unique charm of Bunu Yao traditional culture while highlighting the diversity of Chinese excellent traditional culture.The shift of the cultural symbols of the Zhuzhu Festival from the presence of faith to the present of the state profoundly illustrates the embedding and control of the state discourse in festival activities,presenting both opportunities and challenges for the development of traditional culture.By using the theoretical framework of the presence of the state,this paper,from the interaction between the state and society,discusses this development proposition of how the Zhuzhu Festival reconstructs cultural symbols in the interplay between tradition and modernity,and it is a theoretical reflection on how to carry out innovation with upholding fundamental principles to Chinese excellent traditional culture,as well as a practical exploration of how to realize the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese ethnic traditional culture.
