Research on Gender Differences Among Principal Investigators of National Social Science Fund Projects in Library,Information,and Documentation Science
The gender difference among the principal investigators of National Social Science Fund projects has always been a topic of great interest.In the fields of library,information,and documentation science,this gender difference is particularly pronounced.This paper analyzes the principal investigators of National Social Science Fund projects in library,information,and documentation science from a gender perspective.It provides a new research angle and policy implications for the scientific research funding system and gender differences among researchers,aiming to stimulate,enhance,and elevate the innovative vitality of female researchers and address the issue of women's"absence from high positions".Based on role identity theory,human capital theory,and social capital theory,this study collected project information from the National Social Science Fund project database covering the years from 2000 to 2022.It con-ducted public online searches for relevant information about the principal investigators and used informetrics,mathematical statistics,and SPSS statistical software for significance testing to establish a multiple linear regression model to study the factors affecting gender differences among principal investigators.The approach of exploring gender differences among principal investigators of National Social Science Fund projects in library,information,and documentation science from the perspectives of role identity theory,human capital theory,and social capital theory is found to have certain explanatory and rational bases.It proposed nine hypotheses,of which five were confirmed and four were rejected.The results provide a reference basis for the National Social Science Fund Committee in formula-ting measures to support the development of women's research careers,offer decision-making references for relevant national depart-ments,stimulate women's creative vitality,and narrow gender gaps.
