The Concept of Sustainable Development:Advancing Towards the Core Values of Libraries
The United Nations proposed 2030 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)in 2015,which encompasses three dimensions:economic,social and environmental.The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions(IFLA)has endorsed the SDGs through forums,organization change and revising manifesto.Similarly,the American Library Association(ALA)has proposed the"triple bottom line"mindset of sustainability,revised the Core Values of Libraris.In response to these global initiatives,The Li-brary Society of China revised Library Service Manifesto to include"new development concepts"and the clause of sustainable develop-ment.As such,the principles of sustainable development are becoming integral to the core values of libraries.
