Educating Through Culture:Educational Ideologies in Ancient Library Science and Its Implications
Ancient library science developed a system of educational ideologies encompassing three aspects:academic inheritance, learning methods, and social edification. The inheritance strategy of rooting in historical studies, the inheritance principle of advocating specialization, and the inheritance spirit of integrating past and present collectively form the aspirational and inclusive academic inheri-tance ideology. The learning methodologies of governing and comprehending literature incorporate key components, including the read-ing methodology for indicating approaches to study, the academic methodology of classification and division, and the educational meth-odology of talent attraction and development in libraries. The literature value of promoting edification, the academic value concerning the doctrine of the sages, and the moral value of gaining wisdom through reading are unified in the social edification thought of con-veying truth through literature. The education of library science in the new era should draw on the educational ideologies of ancient li-brary science, highlight educational ideas of humanistic characteristics, adhere to practice-oriented educational principles, uphold so-cially focused educational direction, and advance transformation and innovation in disciplinary education.
