The Construction of Legitimacy in Chinese Library Science from a Perspective of Co-opetition
Constructing the legitimacy of Chinese library science from a perspective of co-opetition involves re-evaluating traditional collation studies and Western library science.It is also an essential step for Chinese library science to achieve disciplinary indepen-dence and recognition.Specifically,the legitimacy of Chinese library science can be established through both internal and external di-mensions.Internally,key elements of disciplinary legitimacy include research objects,methods,and terminology.Externally,discipli-nary legitimacy is shaped by professional groups,disciplinary education,and communication platforms.Objective evaluation is also in-dispensable for the complete construction of disciplinary legitimacy.The co-opetition between ancient and modern,as well as between China and the West,has driven the professionalization of Chinese library science while also influencing its individualized development.
