Characterization of Stimulated Brillouin Gain Coefficient of Large-Core Passive Optical Fiber
The nonlinear effect of optical fiber inhibits the use of optical fiber under high power conditions.Specially, the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS)in narrow-linewidth fiber lasers is emphasized for analysis. The stimulated Brillouin gain coefficient(SBGC)represents the SBS performance of optical fiber.Based on the mechanism of SBS generation,an SBGC test platform for large-core passive fiber is established at 1 064 nm.After actual testing and verification, the test platform has completed the SBGC and backscattered stimulated Brillouin frequency shift(BSBFS)tests of the self prepared large-core passive fibers with 50 μm core diameter. The test platform achieved a minimum measurement of 1.9×10-12 m/W fiber SBGC,which effectively achieved the characterization of SBGC of large-core passive optical fiber.
