Performance and Application of TPEE Modified PBT Materials for Optical Fiber Loose Tube
PBT has high strength and hardness,and the optical fiber secondary coating loose tube made from it has poor bending resistance.PBT is modified using TPEE made with PBT as rigid hard segment and amorphous PTMEG as flexible soft segment.The melting and crystallization behaviors of TPEE/PBT blends with different ratios are studied,and their mechanical properties are analyzed.At the same time,the bending performance,lateral pressure,axial thermal shrinkage rate,filling gel compatibility,and thermal aging performance of the loose tube for secondary coating of optical fibers prepared with TPEE modified PBT material are verified.The research results indicate that this type of TPEE has a good toughening effect on PBT,and TPEE modified PBT material can be used as secondary coating material for optical fibers to improve the bending resistance of the loose tube and meet the high requirements of customers for the bending performance of the loose tube in optical fiber fusion splicing.
