Objective To explore the teaching effectiveness of political and virtuous awareness education in undergraduate surgery courses under the outcome based education oriented smart teaching model.Methods 42 undergraduate interns who entered the Department of Surgery at Norman Bethune First Hospital,Jilin University from February 2022 to February 2023 were randomly divided into two groups,including a Traditional Teaching Model(TTM)group of 21 students and a Smart Teaching Model(STM)based on Outcome Based Education(OBE)(STM+OBE)teaching group of 21 students.Traditionally teaching methods and Modified teaching methods based on"Political Typical Case Library of the First Hospital of Jilin University(Surgical Edition)"were adopted respectively.The effectiveness of political and virtuous awareness education courses were evaluated by self-made clinical practice assessment forms and student survey questionnaires as evaluation methods.Results The assessment scores and student satisfaction with teaching in the STM+OBE group were higher than those in the traditional teaching group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The Outcome Based Education oriented smart teaching model based on Case Library can improve the teaching quality of political and virtuous awareness education in undergraduate surgery teaching.
