Student Perspectives on the Teaching Reform of Literature Appreciation:An Exploration of Experience and Thought
Second classroom refers to educational activities related to the content of the first classroom that take place outside of the designated teaching time and tasks.Medical literature is an irreplaceable means of transmitting the latest advances in medical research and showcasing the newest treatments for certain diseases. Therefore, literature reading is an important way for medical undergraduate students to supplement their classroom learning, broaden their horizons, understand the forefront of medical science, and explore their own interests.Developing good literature reading habits in the early years of medical education is of great significance for the formation of critical and research thinking. To better develop the second classroom and cultivate critical thinking abilities, and to increase the interest of medical undergraduate students in scientific research, the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Central South University reformed the literature appreciation classes of the courses Basic Medical General Ⅰ and Endocrine System. In this classroom, students were divided into reviewers and submitters, and simulated the process of submitting and reviewing medical papers. This new approach to literature appreciation not only constructed a second classroom curriculum system that emphasizes innovation and autonomous learning, but also deepened the students'reading and research of selected literature, which has had a profound and positive impact on medical students.
