Comparative Trial of 31 Cherry Tomato Varieties under Facility Cultivation
[Objective]Guilin is located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone, with rain and heat in the same period. The heavey rain during the ripening period of the cherry tomatoes leads to low soluble solids content and easily cause ripe fruits to crack.[Method]In this study,31 cherry tomato varieties were introduced and a field variety comparison trial was conducted to evaluate the growth, yield, fruit quality, and fruit cracking resistance of different varieties under local climatic and soil conditions, aiming to screen out varieties with excellent comprehensive traits, high soluble solids content, and strong fruit cracking resistance.[Result]The analysis showed that the inter-varietal coefficients of variation for 14 agronomic traits among the 31 varieties ranged from 7%to 41%.Principal component analysis revealed the eigenvalues of 6 principal components were greater than 1 with the cumulative contribution rate of 79.76%,representing the main agronomic traits.Based on the comprehensive scores, the top ten varieties were selected.Combined with the two-dimensional analysis of soluble solids content and fruit cracking resistance,5 varieties meeting the expected goals were obtained, which were all distributed in the high-quality group of the 5 clusters in the cluster analysis. The results were basically consistent with the principal component analysis and in line with the actual field growth situation, indicating the reliability of the results.[Conclusion]The screened 5 varieties,namely"GL-25","GL-10","GL-30","GL-24",and"GL-4",showed better adaptability than the other 26 cherry tomato varieties in Guilin and are suitable for popularization and planting.
