Application of Magnesium Reduction Slag in Corundum Spinel Castable
To investigate the effect of aluminum thermal reduction metal magnesium reduction slag instead of electric fused spinel micro powder on the performance of corundum spinel castable, using plate-like corundum and electric fused spinel with different particle sizes as aggregates, metal magnesium reduction slag, electric fused spinel micro powder, and α-Al2O3 micro powder as the matrix, the performance of corundum spinel castable with the introduction of reduction slag was studied. The results showed that:As the amount of reduction slag increased the density of corundum spinel castable did not show significant changes after demolding,110 ℃×16 h,1 100 ℃×3 h,and 1 600 ℃×3 h,and its flexural strength and compressive strength were both improved to a certain extent, and its high-temperature flexural strength at 1 450 ℃×0.5 h was basically at a stable level. As the amount of reduction slag increased, the diffraction peak intensity of Al 2O3 and MgAl2O4 in the castable gradually increased after calcination at 1 600℃,the overall bonding between the matrix and the aggregate was relatively tight, and the reduction slag combined well with other micro powders in the matrix, with relatively uniform grain size.Metal magnesium reduction slag can partially or completely replace fused spinel micro powder and be used in corundum spinel castable.
