Objective To observe the changes of corneal biomechanics in adolescents with low to moderate myopia wearing orthokeratology(OK)lens for 1day,1 week and 1 month. Methods A total of 124 eyes of 79 adolescents with low or moderate myopia who were fitted with OK lenses for the first time were enrolled in the study.According to spherical equivalent(SE)refraction, subjects were divided into low-diopter group(SE from-0.75 D to-3.00 D,57 eyes of 40 cases)and moderate-diopter group(SE from-3.00 D to-6.00 D,67 eyes of 39 cases).Corneal visualization scheimpflug technology(Corvis ST)was used to detect the corneal biomechanics-related parameters[first applanation time(A1T),first applanation length(A1L),corneal velocity during the first applanation moment(A1V);peak distance(PD),maximum deformation amplitude(HCDA),central curvature radius at highest concavity(HCR),the highest concavity time(HCT);second applanation time(A2T),second applanation length(A2L),corneal velocity during the second applanation moment(A2V);central corneal thickness(CCT)and intraocular pressure(IOP)]before wearing OK lens and 1 day,1 week and 1 month after wearing OK lens. Results 1 day after wearing OK lens,IOP was lower compared with before wearing OK lens in the low-diopter group(P<0.05).1 week after wearing, compared with before wearing and 1 day after wearing,A1T were shorter in both groups(P<0.05);PD,HCDA and A2T increased(P<0.05);IOP decreased(P<0.05);A1V was faster and CCT was thinner compared with 1 day after wearing in the low-diopter group(P<0.05).CCT was thinner compared with before wearing and 1 day after wearing in the moderate-diopter group(P<0.05),meanwhile,△PD and △A2T in the moderate-diopter group were less than those of low-diopter group(P<0.05),while △CCT was greater than that of low-diopter group(P<0.05).1 month after wearing,A1T,PD,HCDA,and A2T were shorter, larger, bigger, and longer compared with before wearing(P<0.05);A2V were slower and IOP were higher compared with 1 week after wearing(P<0.05);CCT tended to be more stable compared with 1 week after wearing.HCR decreased compared with 1 day after wearing in the low-diopter group(P<0.05).A1V was slower compared with 1 week after wearing in the moderate-diopter group(P<0.05).Conclusion The corneal biomechanical properties changes the most 1 week after wearing OK lens, but indexes stabilize 1 month after wearing, and change less and stabilized faster in the moderate-diopter group.
