Objective To analyze therapeutic efficacy of high dose of estradiol gel on preventing intrauterine adhesion after two induced abortions in a short time. Methods A total of 87 patients with two induced abortions within six months were selected.A bidirectional cohort study was used. After surgery, the patients were treated with 5.0 g/d estradiol gel as observation group, and with 2.5 g/d estradiol gel as control group. At one month after surgery, the patients were re-examined at the department of outpatient to compare the menstrual recovery between two groups of patients.Endometrial thickness was determined by ultrasound.Blood samples were drawn to detect the increases of alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),creatinine, urea nitrogen, activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT),abnormal prothrombin time(PT),and the incidence of vaginal uterine adhesions detected by ultrasound. Results There were no statistically significant differences in age, frequency of childbirth and 45-60 day amenorrhea before treatment between two groups. There were statistically significant differences in endometrial thickness, incidence of intrauterine adhesions and menstrual abnormalities between two groups after treatment.Observation group exhibited significant endometrial thickening. The incidences of intrauterine adhesions and menstrual abnormalities were lower in observation group than those in control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in AST,ALT,creatinine, urea nitrogen,APTT,and PT before and after treatment between two groups. Conclusion For the patients with two induced abortions in a short term,high-dose estradiol gel is helpful to repair endometrium and reduce the incidence of intrauterine adhesions.
