Study on Growth, Removal Property of nitrogen and Phosphorus of High-nutrient-value Scenedesmus sp. Growing in Aquaculture Wastewater
Treating wastewater by high-nutrient-value microalgae can not only remove nitrogen and phosphorus in wastewater, but also produce algal resources being used as aquatic bait and feed. A newly isolated high-nutrient-value microalgae,Scenedesmus sp. was studied concerning its growth and removal property of nitrogen and phos-phorus while being cultured in aquaculture wastewater. Results show that the specific growth rate of Scenedesmus sp. was 0.342 d-1,its maximum algal density was 2.07×107cells·mL-1and its maximum population growth rate was 1.77×106cells·(mL·d)-1. Compared with the growth in the culture medium,Scenedesmus sp. can also grow rapidly in aquaculture wastewater. At stationary phase of training, removal efficiencies of TN and TP in wastewater by Scenedesmus sp. were 87.4% and 94.5%,respectively,and removal efficiencies of ammonium,ni-trite and nitrate by Scenedesmus sp. were 95.6%, 89.4% and 85.5%,respectively. Thus it can be seen that Scenedesmus sp. has a strong removal effect of nitrogen and phosphorus in the purification of aquaculture wastewater.
