Oil Content and Fatty Acid Profile of 10 Camellia oleifera Seeds
The oil content and fatty acid profile of 10 different Camellia oleifera seeds harvested from Guizhou,Hunan and Jiangxi provinces were studied, providing references for the breeding and popularization of Camellia oleifera. The oil content and fatty acid profile of the samples were determined by Soxhlet extraction methood and gas chromatography, respectively. The results indicated that the oil contents of Camellia oleifera seed kernel were between 26.79%±0.16%and 54.98%±0.76%,among of which camellia chekiangoleosa(ZHH)was top-ranked whlie Guizhou Songtao Zhengda(Cenruan)(GCR)was the lowest.Palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and α-linolenic acid were presented in camellia oil,in which oleic acid was the dominant unsaturated fatty acid, with the contents ranged from 70.82%±0.26%to 84.13%±0.14%,the oleic acid content of HYZ was the highest;the linoleic acid contents were between 4.62%±0.29%and 16.2%±0.23%,the contents of linoleic acid and α-linolenic acid of GCR were first-rate.The palmitic acid and stearic acid contents of 10 different camellia oil were 8.29%±0.04%~13.92%±0.26%,1.38%±0.02%~2.80%±0.10%,respectively.The relationship between oleic acid and linoleic acid contents showed negative correlation,of which the sum ranged from 84.67%±0.19%to 89.28%±0.04%.These results provided references for the breeding and popularization of Camellia oleifera.
