Effects of Citric Acid on the Physical Properties of Bamboo Sawdust-Magnesium Oxysulfate Cement
Magnesium oxysulfate(MOS)cement has the advantages of excellent refractoriness, lightweight, low thermal conductivity, and early strength. However, its strength is low,and water resistance is poor.To address these shortcomings, the MOS cement was supplemented with bamboo sawdust and citric acid as modifier. This study investigates the effects of bamboo sawdust and citric acid on the setting time, porosity, mechanical properties, and water resistance of MOS cement. It was also subjected to X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results demonstrate that the inclusion of bamboo sawdust significantly reduces the setting time of MOS cement and improves its mechanical properties and water resistance.Additionally, the addition of citric acid prolongs the hydration induction period of bamboo sawdust-magnesium oxysulfate cement(BSMOSC)and increases the setting time, further enhancing its mechanical properties and water resistance.Bamboo sawdust and citric acid act as effective filler and modifier, respectively, addressing the issues of low strength and poor water resistance in MOS cement.
