Discussion on the Problems of Limit Equilibrium Method and Strength Reduction Method in Slope Stability Analysis
In order to compare the difference between limit equilibrium method and strength reduction method in slope stability analysis, through specific examples, different limit equilibrium methods such as Swedish slice method, simplified Bishop method,Janbu method and strength reduction method(SRM)in finite element software are applied to engineering practice. The slope safety factor is solved by various calculation methods, and the stability results of two homogeneous soil slopes are analyzed. The results show that the Swedish slice method has low reliability and the safety factor is only 0.89.Then,the influence of mesh density on the safety factor was discussed by orthogonal test, and the isoline obtained by Abaqus was the deepest. In addition,by comparing the safety factor and critical slip surface obtained by different methods, the problems of slope instability and slip surface search are further discussed. The research results can provide some reference for the application of limit equilibrium method and strength reduction method in engineering.
