Application of China English Proficiency Scale in IELTS Writing Courses——A Case Study of International Cooperative Education Programs
The China English Proficiency Scale(hereinafter referred to as"the Scale"),which is oriented towards language use,provides a reference standard for the levels of English use ability in teaching,learning,and testing,and plays a role in standardizing and measuring English proficiency.Its introduction has promoted the reform of foreign language teaching and the construction of foreign language assessment systems at all levels in China.Additionally,the alignment research between the IELTS exam and the Scale has been successfully completed.However,discussions on the application of the Scale in IELTS writing teaching within international cooperative education programs are still scarce.Against this backdrop,this paper,through a small-scale exploration,demonstrates that the Scale can effectively function in formulating syllabus outlines,guiding teaching processes,and providing teaching feedback.Serving as a"scaffold",the Scale also offers effective self-assessment criteria for English learners,achieving the goals of promoting learning through assessment and using assessment for learning within a formative assessment system.
